Happy Birthday Makeupstore!

This fall, the amazing brand Makeupstore celebrated their 15-year anniversary as a makeup-brand. I personally LOVE Makeupstore, and I have a range of different products from the brand, and I love most of them! Their products are available in most of the countries (capitals) and if you haven't tried their products you definitely should! On the video above, you can see the whole show that they hosted just a few weeks ago, to celebrate that Makeupstore has been a running company for 15 years! AWESOME

Review of Makeupstore's ''Sheer Lipsticks''

These two lipsticks from Makeupstore have I been using now for about a year (or I bought the first one a year ago and the second one approximately a half year ago, sooo interesting, right? lol.) They are quite affordable (£12,5/each), which is a lot more cheap than Chanel, YSL, Dior, Lancôme etcetera etcetera. But are the differences between these two kind of price-groupes that big? I'd say, definitely! At the current moment I have one lipstick from Chanel (reed the review HERE), and the formula is just sooooo much better, honestly I can hardly compare them with each other. Continue reading and I'll tell you why..
(''Prairie'' and Exit'' )

You can buy Makeupstore's lipsticks in either Sheer, Matte, Transparent and Shimmery. These two that I've are Sheer. The colours that I've bought are called ''Prairie'' and ''Exit'' and you can see the swatches on the picture above. The orange/reddish colour is called ''Prairie'' and it looks just gorgeous during the summer when you got a tan. I personally look better in warm lipstick-colours, so I prefer ''Prairie''. The other shade called ''Exit'' is probably most appropriate during the autumn/winter/spring's, just because it's a very cold colour if you know what I mean.

(This is how ''Exit and ''Prairie'' looks like on my lips).

Which shade of these two do you prefer? As you see, the lipsticks are more ''dry-looking'' than the Chanel lipstick that I've and I really do not like that it looks like the Sheer lipsticks from Makeupstore are ''bleeding'' if you know what I mean. They are highly pigmented though, and you only need to dab a tiny amount of the lipstick on your lips to have this look that I've created. It's totally enough, right?

It's definitely not anything wrong with the lasting-power of these lipsticks though. They last for approximately 3 hours on me, which I find absolutely OK, but it sucks if you compare it with my Chanel-lipstick which lasts for at least 6 hours (!!!!) on me. How amazing isn't that?? Anyway, after three hours with these Makeupstore lipsticks on, they tend to look and feel very dry on your lips. I don't like that either. BUT; it's definitely an OK product and I don't regret buying it.

Review of MAC ''Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder'':

So, after using this ''Transparent finishing powder'' (o.32 oz/ 9g) from MAC for basically everyday since I bought (which is for approximately two months now) I see myself ready to do a review of it where I can explain quite a lot of it :). I do have another loose finishing powder from Makeupstore, but that one is not really transparent (you can buy them in six different colours), so that one from Makeupstore is more equal for the winters for me. This ''Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder'' from MAC, looks good in any season (I'll probably just be using it during the summers though). Continue reading and I'll tell you exactly what I think about this powder...

The packaging is a huge minus for me! There's a plastic ''wall'' in the middle of the jar, but once you've removed the sticker that's supposed to cover the small wholes in the wall, the powder is just flying everywhere. I mean, fine, I probably shouldn't had removed the whole sticker, but I wasn't aware about that half of the powder was lying above the plastic protection wall. Another negative thing about the packaging is that it's difficult every single time to put the lid on. It's not tight, so when I bring this powder in my bag to the city for example, there's always lots of white powder in my bag. I really hate that about this powder. I'm definitely not happy with the packaging(!!).

(As I've written on the picture above, this is how MAC ''Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder'' looks like on my skin, 3 hours after that I've applied it).

Okay now it's enough about the packaging. The PRODUCT, is absolutely amazing though. And that's the most important when you buy a product, and not the packaging. You don't need a lot to mattify your whole face with this, which is deifinitely a good thing. As you see on the picture above, it still looks really matte on my skin, even after three hours. After four hours, I usually do need to reapply this powder though. But still, I think that's amazing. This powder does not leave any white marks on my skin either after applying it, and it's not visible in pictures either. I absolutely love this product, even though that the packaging kind of sucks.

How To Do The Basic At-Home Facial:

There’s nothing better than getting a professional facial, but they can be expensive. To maintain your healthy skin between professional treatments or to do them yourself, try this basic at-home facial once a week. This basic facial works on oily, dry and combination skin.

And don’t worry, I’m not going to make you whip up a batch of egg-whites and oatmeal, but you will save money if you do your own mask. I list a bunch of organic, natural Homemade Face Mask Recipes for every skin type. But if you don't want to whip up your own, you can buy a great mask at health food stores or even your local drugstore.

What You Need:

Gentle cleanser, exfoliating scrub, warm water & a washcloth, clay-based or cream facial mask (based on skin type), basic moisturizer.

  1. Cleanse the skin You’ll want to wash the face, neck and ears with a good facial cleanser to remove any grime or dirt. I recommend some great options in my list of the best cleansers.
Don't forget to remove makeup with a makeup remover. My hands-down favorite is Clinique, but Neutrogena's eye makeup remover is a great drugstore option.
  2. Exfoliate Using your fingers, rub a gentle exfoliating facial scrub in a circular motion on your face. Concentrate on the areas around your nose and forehead or if you have combo skin, work harder on the areas that tend to be "greasy." Rinse your face well since exfoliating scrubs tend to be drying.
See my list of the best scrubs or make your own using white sugar mixed in with extra virgin coconut oil.
  3. Steam There are several ways to steam your face. You can fill your sink with warm water, dip a washcloth in and press to your face repeating 2-3 times or you can take it further by boiling water over the stove, then turning off the stove and putting your head over the water with a towel over your head, letting the steam seep into pores for a good 5 minutes. My favorite steam trick is to actually use my clothing steamer. I turn it on, put a towel over my head and put my face a good foot above the steamer. Works like a charm. But be careful: Do not burn yourself.
  4. The mask For oily skin, use a clay-based face mask. For dry skin, go for a hydrating gel or cream mask.
Apply the mask, avoiding the areas around the eyes. Keep it on for 10-20 minutes (or, according to the directions on the product). Rinse completely. You can even make your own face mask.
Get recipes for every skin type in 23 Homemade Face Mask Recipes.
  5. Moisturize Smooth on a soothing, basic moisturizer over your face and neck. See my list of the best facial moisturizers. Tip: Stay away from strong moisturizers containing retinols or acids. These will over-exfoliate your skin.

Review of Estée Lauder ''Double Wear Mascara''

So, I've been using this mascara every day since I bought it, which is approximately 2 weeks now. I love the gold and the blue packaging together it looks really luxurious! :). I also love that the bottle is so handy, it's the perfect size. That's what I love about ''more expensive'' makeup, the packaging always look so luxurious and gorgeous. And you usually get what you pay for, which is quality, don't you agree?

My current favourite mascara is the ''Lancôme Definicils Mascara'', but I wanted to try something new, and I thought that this mascara seemed quite much like the Lancôme's. It basically had the same wand as the one from Lancôme so I had to try it! I did not like this one as much as Lancôme's though, continue reading the review and I'll tell you why.
It says on the mascara that it's a zero-smudge lengthening mascara, and I totally agree with that! It does not smudge at all, which I love about it. It also stays on all day, so you don't need to worry about reapplication. One thing that I don't like about this mascara is that it comes too much product on the wand, which makes your eyelashes appear more heavy-looking. In the pictures you might not see it as clear as in real life, but I hope you still understand what I mean.
(This is how Estée Lauder ''Double Wear Mascara'' looks like on my eyelashes)

How do you think this mascara looks like after application? I've used 2 layers on the upper lash-line and that's totally enough to make your eyelashes more lenghtened. I really like how it looks like, but; I'm not the biggest fan of how difficult it is to makes your eyelashes defined while applying this mascara. You need to brush through your eyelashes a lot while applying it, so they won't be too thick, because otherwise they'll end out waaaaay to thick.. I promise you that. It's also quite difficult to remove even with my favourite eye make-up remover of all time, that removes any mascara easily... But removing this mascara with that eye make-up remover is not as easy, at all.

YSL Fall 2011 Collection

WOW!! These pictures from YSL Fall 2011 are just breathtaking. Don't you think? It's absolutely gorgeous. The main colours in this collection are purple, blue and green as you can see. For me it couldn't be more appropriate for fall. I love it!!

(Image 3):The eyeshadow quad is called ''Jardin de Minuit'' and contains 5 different shades (1 dark-green, 1 mint-green and 3 purple shades). My favourite shades from this quad is the mint-green and the 2 lilac shades to the right.

(Image 4):The nailpolishes are also absolutely gorgeous! I love that they contain a little glitter, that make them look more luxurious I think. My personal favourite of those two is the dark-blue one. I think that colour is the ''most appropriate'' one for fall of them two.

(Image 5):There are also 6 new lipsticks in this collection, they're called ''Rouge Volupté Perlé''. I'd say that the shades are definitely appropriate for the fall, but I'd say that the shades are a little different (two of the shades are purple). But the other shades are absolutely gorgeous I think. I really like that they've made a nude lipstick, so that you can wear it with the ''Jardin de Minuit''-quad. The red and the light-red lipstick are just absolutely GORGEOUS! Love them!!

(Image 6):As you can see, there are also 5 new blushes, called ''Blush Radiance''. I'm really interested of the first 3 ones, just because that I think that they would fit perfect with a look that's fall-inspired, if you know what I mean. I really want them!

My favourite beauty-tools for hair

(1: Goldwell Straight Flat Marvel. 2: Goldwell Hair Sprayer. 3: Goldwell Double Boost Root lift Spray.)

These are my favourite beauty-tools for my hair. They're all from Goldwell, I really like that brand. I've basically used the ''Goldwell Straight Flat Marvel'', for my whole life and it's great(!!). You just need a small amount of it before using the Flat Iron, and your hair will be perfectly protected from the heat and your hair feels a lot smoother and looks more healty. The ''Goldwell Hair Sprayer'' is a classic for me. It's awesome! BUT: the ''Goldwell Double Boost Root Lift Spray'' is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It makes such a big difference to the volume of your hair and it's a lot more better for your hair than to back-comb it. Okay, all of the products are amazing!

Review of Maybelline ''Pure Mineral Foundation SPF 18'':

A while back ago I bought the Maybelline ''Pure Mineral Foundation SPF 18'', you remember? :) I chose it because it was available in quite many shades (six shades). It was also SPF 18, which is quite a lot for a cheep foundation like this, usually you'll have to buy more ''expensive'' foundations if you want a really high SPF on a foundation :). Anyhow, SPF 18 sounded right enough for me when I bought it, and I still think it's enough.

It's also oil free (a must have for me who's a teenager and has quite oily skin already, a foundation that contains oil is super-wrong for me then!), yay. As you see it's a pure mineral foundation and on the ''back'' on the bottle it says this: ''Make-up that's good to skin- it's proven''. I agree with that, I haven't gotten any more pimples after using this for less or more than 2 months now, I really like that(!!). The bottle is just an ''ordinary'' foundation bottle, but no complains, I like it. One reason is because it has a pump, which a foundation should have(!!), I think it's really important because it's easier to get the amount that you wish.

I bought the shade called ''026 Honey Beige'', which is the third darkest shade. When you pour some foundation on a piece of paper or on the back of your hand (okay anywhere really) it looks quite dark. But when you apply it in your face it's definitely not as dark. This shade was perfect(!!) for me though, and it's the perfect summer-shade for me. It's really easy to apply, and it blends in perfectly and gives you a very natural complexion. For me, it's almost a tinted moisturizer for me, considering how light it looks on your skin, which I really like. During the summer a tinted moisturizer is enough (according to me of course).

When I use this foundation I use my ''Mac Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder'' (I'll give you a review of that product the fastest I can!!)., and they cooperate excellent together!! Using the Maybelline ''Pure Mineral Foundation SPF 18''+ that finishing powder, I'd say that my face stays matte for approximately 3 hours. The foundation has begun disappearing after atleast 6 hours though. That's totally OK according to me!:). You do need quite many touch-ups during the day though, so your foundation will stay looking matte. Overall, it's a great product, and I don't really have anything to complain about, except that it doesn't cover blemishes or uneveness in your face at all. Which I don't like...
